Narrow AI is artificial intelligence designed to perform a specific task or limited set of tasks rather than general reasoning across domains. Most deployed AI systems today are narrow AI, including systems for translation, classification, recommendation, and image recognition.
Sometimes known as weak AI, these AI models are designed to perform a specific task (such as speech recognition) and cannot be adapted to other tasks. See also general-purpose AI.
