La inteligencia artificial (IA, AI) es el campo de investigación, ingeniería y despliegue de sistemas basados en máquinas que pueden realizar tareas normalmente asociadas con la inteligencia humana. Estas tareas pueden incluir percepción, comprensión del lenguaje, predicción, recomendación, razonamiento, aprendizaje, toma de decisiones y acción en entornos reales o virtuales. La IA incluye múltiples enfoques, como sistemas basados en reglas, aprendizaje automático, optimización, razonamiento simbólico y agentes autónomos, y puede activar obligaciones legales o de gobernanza cuando se utiliza con datos personales o en contextos regulados.

Formally, machine learning is a sub-field of artificial intelligence. However, in recent years, some organizations have begun using the terms artificial intelligence and machine learning interchangeably.
